Canadian Child Welfare Research Portal

The Canadian Child Welfare Research Portal is an initiative of the Centre for Research on Children and Families, a part of the Faculty of Social Work at McGill University. This project aims to profile Canadian research, legislation, policy and statistics as it relates to different child welfare issues across the country.

SonicCat Studios has been working with The Canadian Child Welfare Portal for over 20 years starting from a brochure style hand coded website. During this time we have actively modernized the website including several design iterations, as well as updates to address changes for mobile platforms, SEO requirements, accessibility and usability. In 2006 the site was re-architected from a brochure site with an online database of publications showcasing the publications as the primary content of the site. This update reflected a maturing of websites into more interactive applications.

Operating on a very small budget, this project requires creative approaches that allow the site to be updated with a minimum of effort while continuing to be current and vibrant.
